What's actually in your
Australian tap water.

A 90-second decision engine that tells you exactly what's in your city's water, which filter actually works for it, and what you'll spend over five years. Verified utility data. No vague wellness talk. Built because I went down the filter research rabbit hole myself and wanted to save you the hassle.

What this tool does

Three things, in 90 seconds.

Most filter advice online is either selling you something specific or written by people who have never measured anything. This tool fixes both.

01

The city data

Tap your city, see exactly whats in your water β€” disinfectant, fluoride, TDS, hardness, PFAS risk. Sourced from the actual utility annual reports, not guesswork. One tap copies a Reddit-ready summary.

02

The filter picker

Five questions, 90 seconds. Returns a specific product matched to your city, ownership status, what you actually want filtered out, and budget. Honest about what each option doesnt do.

The 5-year cost

Most filter ads quote upfront price. The real number is upfront plus 5 years of cartridges. We do that math for you and compare it to what 5 years of bottled water costs. The result is usually surprising.

Why I built this

I went looking for a decent water filter for my own house and ended up in a minefield. Half the products were rebadged versions of each other. Half the reviews were affiliate sites that hadnt tested anything. The retailers in my state were selling me a system designed for a different city. It took weeks of digging through utility annual reports, NSF certifications and ADWG limits before I had a clear answer.

So I built this. The question "what filter do I actually need" has a real answer that depends entirely on your city, and you shouldnt need to lose a weekend to find it. The chloramine cities alone have about 5 million Australians filtering the wrong thing every day with a Brita that doesnt touch their disinfectant.

Step 1 of 3

Find your city. See the data.

Every Australian capital plus the major regions where the data actually differs. Sourced from utility annual reports, the ADWG, and the PFAS NEMP.

Now decide

Which filter actually fits your city?

Five questions. 90 seconds. You'll get a specific product matched to your situation, real 5-year cost, and an honest list of what it doesn't do.

Step 1 of 5 20%
Side by side

What each filter actually removes.

Carbon and RO arent competing β€” they solve different problems. This is the matrix you wish someone showed you before you bought a Brita.

Reading the table: βœ“ = NSF-certified or independently verified removal. ~ = partial removal (typically 60–80%, depends on cartridge condition and contact time). βœ— = does not remove. 5-year cost = upfront price + 5 years of replacement cartridges at typical AU pricing.
