What this is

A systematic assessment of your specific home – not a product recommendation dressed up as advice.

Most people buying water filters, air purifiers, or EMF meters are guessing. They read a review, pick the most recommended product, and hope it addresses their actual problem. Sometimes it does. Often it doesn’t – because the problem was never properly diagnosed.

This consultation is a structured risk assessment of your home environment. You describe your situation – suburb, water supply, home layout, existing products, specific concerns. I work through it methodically and give you a written report covering what is actually present, what the numbers mean against ARPANSA and ADWG reference levels, and a prioritised list of actions for your specific situation.

The key difference

If you email most affiliate sites asking which water filter to buy, they will recommend the one with the highest commission. This assessment starts from your water supply data and works forward to a recommendation. If nothing needs buying, that is what the report will say.

What assessments typically find

💧

Water: wrong filter for the supply type

Standard carbon filters don’t remove monochloramine – the disinfectant used by Seqwater, affecting most of SEQ. Most people in Brisbane don’t know this.

📡

EMF: the highest source is rarely the router

AC electric fields from wiring and power boards near sleeping areas are often the most actionable finding – and are invisible to RF-only meters.

🌿

Air: HEPA alone doesn’t handle smoke gases

During bushfire season, activated carbon matters as much as HEPA. Most budget purifiers have a token carbon layer that saturates in hours under smoke load.

Sample finding

This is what a section of the written report looks like.

Every report is structured the same way: what was found, what it means in context, and what the specific recommended action is.

Assessment: Water Quality – SEQ Seqwater Supply Zone
Palm Beach QLD 4221
Seqwater
370 mg/L raw supply
Monochloramine (since 2008)
Finding

Seqwater transitioned from free chlorine to monochloramine as the primary disinfectant in 2008. Standard activated carbon block filters – including most benchtop and pitcher filters sold in Australia – are rated for chlorine removal, not monochloramine. Catalytic carbon is required for effective monochloramine reduction. Your current Brita filter is not removing your primary disinfectant.

Replace with a catalytic carbon block filter (TAPP EcoPro Compact, ~$180) or a 5-stage RO system for complete removal including fluoride and TDS reduction.

Common questions

What people ask before booking.

Do I need to get my water tested first?

No. If you have water test results, include them and I will interpret them. If you don’t, I use your suburb’s utility data to establish what is in your supply. For most Australian households this is sufficient for a specific recommendation.

What if I only care about one area?

The intake form lets you specify focus areas. The report will address all three pillars at a summary level but go deep on your priorities. The fee is the same – a narrower brief means more depth in that area.

Will you recommend products you have affiliate links for?

Yes, where relevant – and I will say so in the report. If a non-affiliate product or a free action is the right answer, that is what you will get. The fee covers the assessment, not the product sale.

Can you assess a property I am planning to buy?

Yes. Provide the suburb, floor plan if available, utility connection type, and any known issues. Pre-purchase environmental assessment is one of the most useful applications of this service.

What qualifies you to do this?

A career built on trusting instruments, assessing contaminated environments, and making systematic risk calls. I am not a certified building biologist or water chemist – I am someone who has operated professionally in environments where getting the environmental assessment wrong had consequences, and who applies the same framework to the home.

How does payment work?

Submit the intake form below. I will reply within 24 hours to confirm I can help and send a payment link. Assessment begins on payment confirmation. Report within 48 hours. Call scheduled at a time that suits you.
