In humid climates like Brisbane, Cairns, and coastal NSW, you need to keep indoor relative humidity below 55% using ventilation or a dehumidifier, and fix any water intrusion issues. The purifier complements humidity control — it does not replace it.

How much electricity does an air purifier use in Australia?

Based on my measurements, a mid-range HEPA purifier like the Levoit Core 400S uses approximately 15-25 watts on medium speed. Running it 12 hours per day at the national average tariff of $0.33/kWh costs roughly $2-3 per month. The Breville Protect Max uses slightly more at 25-40 watts on medium, costing approximately $3-4 per month. These are negligible running costs compared to filter replacements.
